2011 GOALS

Legislative Committee – Carmen Kaufman, Chair: Sarah Smalley, Zorina Thomas, Melissa Smoot
Introduce legislation on 
             1.         Blood Draws – 4 sections in the Illinois Vehicle Code allowing PAs to draw blood in DUI

                         cases  

             2.         DMV – Vehicle Code to amend to allow PAs to sign medical review exams and amend the

                         definition of “competent medical specialist”

             3.         Remove ratio language from the PA Practice Act and the Medical Practice Act allowing

                         physicians to supervise as many PAs as they feel they can handle.             

             4.         Medical Corporations Act – Hire an attorney for an opinion of the law.

 
Bylaws Committee - Melissa Smoot, Chair: Zac Sowa, Sarah Smalley, Marsha Meiners
    1. Changes from 2010 add additional listings. 
Membership Committee – Joel Wills, Chair: regional directors, Sharon Blattner, Margaret Wilson, Zorina Thomas, Kris Healy.
1.         Letters to PA Program Faculty and Graduate Students to join IAPA.
2.         Letters to the 1800 licensed PAs in Illinois who are not members, asking them to join.
               3.         Create a video asking PAs to join.                 
4.         Executive Committee to visit PA Programs and sharing how important IAPA activities are
            to the PAs in Illinois.
5.            Surveys to members.
 
Public Education Committee
1.                  Launch the new IAPA website.
2.                  Continue networking with the Metro Chicago Hospital Council (MCHC) 
3.                  Continue networking and continue meetings with the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians and the Illinois Dept. of Human Services.
 
CME – Sharon Blattner, Chair - 1 Day meetings 5 meetings over state
1.         SIPAC Nov. 5, John A. Logan Community College
2.         Spring CME Springfield, March 12/13, Memorial Medical Center
3.         Chicago – Summer or Early Fall
4.         Fall CME – western Chicago suburb - NIU or Midwestern
5.         East Central – TBA
