IAPA FALL CME REVIEW
October 6-8, 2006

"Meredith Davison, Ph.D., Named as IAPA Honorary Member" Merdeth & Kris

"It is an honor and privilege to recognize someone who has dedicated much of her career to the physician assistant profession and to bestow upon this individual the title of Honorary Member of the Illinois Academy of Physician Assistants. This category of membership is granted to persons of distinction who have rendered outstanding service to the Academy. Meredith Davison, is such a person.
Meredith has been a member of the IAPA and AAPA for many years and has been actively involved in PA matters in Illinois and nationally for many years. In her role as PA educator, she has encouraged more than 1000 PAs to be involved in PA professional organizations as members AND leaders.      Meredith has supported student and faculty involvement in the IAPA Board and IAPA committees. She diligently participated in legislative, regulatory and employment matters by educating officials, leaders of health care organizations, physicians and others about the value of physician-PA team practice.  She was very successful in seeking out and obtaining grants and other funding to support PA education in medically underserved communities, in geriatrics, in caring for patients with TB or at risk for TB, and for research projects studying PA practice and physician attitudes towards to PAs.
We know that in her past roles, Meredith has mentored countless numbers of of PA students and PAs—and we know she will continue this tradition in Oklahoma as she starts a new PA Program. . She tirelessly supports efforts to improve health care access and quality care by ensuring that the education of PAs is at a high standard. It is very fitting that we acknowledge and bestow upon Meredith Davison, the title of Honorary PA during National PA Week. Please join me in granting her this special recognition."

- Kris Healy, IAPA Past President, Octrober 7, 2006

IAPA had 114 attendees participate at the Fall CME.  Though the number of attendees is well below the average from a few years ago, the Fall CME was still a success.  First time attendees commented on the beautiful campus of Midwestern University in Downers Grove, others commented that they were surprised that more PAs were not in attendance for the seminars were excellent.

Barbara Borgione PA-C from Glen Ellyn, IL won the IPod Nano that was given away as a door prize.  Her children had mentioned that they wanted an IPod, however, Barbara decided that this particular Nano was going to be hers.

Thanks to Sharon Blattner PA-C for working so diligently on the conference.  Many attendees look forward to next year's event.
